Waynetown - Anna Elizabeth Shanks, 81 resident of Waynetown and Montgomery County for about 50 years, died at 4:24 am. Sunday at her home in Waynetown. She had been in failing health 10 years and in serious condition the last week, suffering from a heart ailment.
Born March 26, 1875, in Washington County, she was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Teegarden Hayes. On Oct 12, 1894, she married Frank E. Shanks at Claysville. Mrs. Shanks received her early education in Claysville, where she was awarded several prizes for oratory. She was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church, Crawfordsville DAR and Waynetown OES.
Surviving are the husband; two sons, Joseph of Mansfield, Ohio and Lee Shanks of Washington DC and a granddaughter, Anne.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Homer M. Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. F riends may call at the funeral home. - kbz
